The Champagne has been drunk, the hats and outfits packed away for another year, and it is now time to put in store all the cream signage and dressing and return the racecourse to its customary blue till next June.
Our work is only one-third complete when the racing starts. Throughout race week we are on site to make daily changes and once the festival is over its time to remove everything, pack it away into storage and turn Ascot back to blue. As we started removing the signage and branding, we realised that many people may not have noticed the changes in the racecourse from its day-to-day look to the Royal Week. They may also have missed some of our finer touches, such as the commemorative number cloth we produced which was presented to Aidan O’Brien by the #PrinceofWales to celebrate his 400th worldwide Group One win. https://www.instagram.com/p/C8bvVzSNPMD/
The changes we make include:
- Direction and location signage inside and outside the course
- Building dressings
- Those huge Union Jack flags on the main stand
- Signage unique for Royal Ascot including for The Royal Enclosure, The Village, Queen Anne Enclosure & Windsor Enclosure
The transformation is amazing and it is a truly unique venue made even better when the sun is out and the experience for all racegoers is one that won’t be forgotten.
Once the final visitor leaves the course on Saturday evening, horses and riders have departed, it is time for us to go to work again and swop the cream branding for blue, ready for the next event to be set up.
At all events we produce and install branding for, the actual event is only one part of our work. The complete project begins months before and doesn’t finish till after the event.
