The National Hunt racing season gets in to full swing in October, with the start of the key races that build throughout the winter to the big Festivals next spring. At RTA Publicity, we have the opportunity to work on the signage and branding for some of the opening events of the season – including the Showcase Meeting at Cheltenham, the Jewson Halloween Family Fun Day at Aintree and Ascot’s Fireworks Spectacular meeting.
So, as we ring in the start of a new jump racing season, here are some of the events we will be covering this October.
The Showcase Meeting at Cheltenham Racecourse
The Showcase Meeting is the curtain raiser for the 2022/23 jump racing season at Cheltenham, with the two-day event kicking off on Friday, 21st October.
For the sponsors, RTA are on site installing the branding for 888Sport, Ballymore, Pertemps and Mastersons who between them are sponsoring seven races across the two days. Alongside the racing action, we are also supporting the Operations And Catering teams at the racecourse to supply and install all the signage needed for the start of the new season, including wayfinding, information, bar branding, menus and tariffs and more!
And, while the star of the weekend will be jump racing, there will also be celebrations for Racehorse Ownership, giving racegoers a fascinating insight into what it’s like to be the owner of an equine star! Plus the first day is the Showcase Sustainable Race Day, as The Jockey Club continue in their efforts to raise awareness by trialling sustainability initiatives across all aspects of a race day.
Halloween Family Fun Day at Aintree Racecourse
Our teams will then be at the Halloween Family Fun Day at Aintree Racecourse on Sunday 23rd October, installing the signage for sponsor Jewson. The highlight of this action-packed day will be the Jewsons St Helens Old Roan Chase, a popular Grade 2 National Hunt steeplechase with past winners including Monet’s Garden, Smad Place and Frodon.
The Halloween Family Fun Day is the perfect day out for families, offering jump racing action and exciting entertainment for everyone. So make the most of your day out at Aintree Racecourse with all the free activities planned!
Fireworks Spectacular Family Raceday at Ascot Racecourse
Ascot’s Fireworks Spectacular is famous in the area as one of the region’s largest firework displays. The first Jumps meeting of the season for the Berkshire course, following the celebration of the culmination of the Flat Racing Season at QIPCO Champions Day a few weeks before, the day starts off with a good quality card of racing action including the Grade 3 Gold Cup Handicap Chase, with fairground rides and Halloween activities providing entertainment between races. Then after racing there is the breathtaking pyro-musical show with over 20,000 fireworks!

But these aren’t the only jump racing events we will be covering this season. Over the coming months, our teams will be installing signage and branding at the following events:
Ladbrokes Christmas Festival
With 12 jump races over two days, the Ladbrokes Christmas Festival is the jewel in Kempton Park’s crown. A popular Boxing Day and post-Christmas day out, the meeting includes three Grade 1 races on the 26th December, all sponsored by Ladbrokes – the Kauto Star novices’ Chase, the Christmas Hurdle and the showpiece King George VI Chase and follows this with a good card on the 27th December including the Grade 2 Desert Orchid Chase.

Cheltenham Festival
Cheltenham Racecourse comes alive every March with the famous Cheltenham Festival. Spread over four days of fantastic jump racing, the festival creates a magic atmosphere for horse racing fans travelling from across the globe to attend the bucket list event. The meeting will be held on 14th – 17th March in 2023 and it’s one of RTA Publicity’s biggest events of the year, where we will be installing signage and branding for sponsors, the Jockey Club operations, marketing and catering teams plus other hospitality and client branding across the site.
Randox Grand National
The Randox Grand National is one of the world’s most famous races and the three-day meeting at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool is one of the highlights of the racing calendar. As well as the historic feature race, there will be a host of other good quality races during the three days from the 13th – 15th April 2023. RTA have a long and close relationship with Aintree. With an office and warehouse around the corner from the racecourse we are well placed to supply and install branding and signage for the sponsors, operations and catering teams. Last year The Jockey Club created a new event brand identity just for the Grand National festival and we were proud to deliver the new signage across the site.
